"A Mighty Common
Laborer"
by Vickie Baker
A mighty common laborer
Trodding heaven’s mud puddles
Straightens bent signposts
On the road crew of the Lord
Not the master of her fate
Nor captain of her soul
Her independence long ago
Was offered to the Lord
Her life is held in Jesus’ hands
Her soul cannot be bought
She won’t sell out to Satan
should his hit-men come to call
Courage given by the Lord
Refreshed anew each morning
Keeps her mind on tasks at hand
Her spirits freely soar
Capricious winds don’t faze her
Storm clouds come and go
She’s straightening bent signposts
On the road crew of the Lord
